CFO, I&H Brown and Breckenridge Lettings<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve always carried out identity checks on our clients as standard, even before property businesses were included into the AML regulations in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With no clear communication on the changes to our obligations, we carried on doing these checks as normal, completely unaware that they didn\u2019t make us compliant with the Regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we responded to a HMRC letter about our AML, showing them what we believed was evidence of our compliance, we thought that would be the last we\u2019d hear about it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The response from HMRC saying we were non-compliant blind-sided us.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I started to research what we should be doing online, including reading the Regulations, which made the process of becoming compliant seem like an overwhelming task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s when I found AMLCC, using a simple Google search. It looked to have everything we needed at a reasonable price. After the first phone call with Lisa, I knew it was the solution for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s an excellent one-stop-shop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We use AMLCC to create and store all the AML documents we need. The example wording and formatting helped us to quickly build our own AML policies, controls and procedures, and complete our business\u2019 risk assessment. The reusable client profiles are also really useful to get the client risk assessments complete – something that would otherwise be a tedious task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The risk dashboard with the pie charts on keeps me up to date on all the things that are outstanding. Like any training that\u2019s out of date. The fact that the tests flow off the back of the training videos is brilliant too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMLCC changed things significantly with HMRC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s been many instances of property businesses being fined for being non-compliant. But we showed HMRC the work we\u2019d done on AMLCC and they were satisfied that we were taking our AML obligations seriously, which was such a relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the future, should we be inspected for AML, we\u2019re able to give HMRC full read-only access to our AMLCC account. As most inspections are remote these days, this saves us time and effort. It also means they can get a full picture of the compliance work we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
